Boris Glumpler

Hey,
I’m Boris, or Bo, and this is basically my site. I started Travel-Junkie as a personal blog for my travels and now I’m opening it up to the public to submit their travel stories and articles.

In the last ten years I probably spent more time on the road than back home in Munich, Germany. As a result I haven’t lived longer than 10 months in any place. You could say that I’m a bit of a restless soul. Now, though, I’m planning to stay home a bit longer. I’m getting older as well, and I think my travel style will change slightly. In the future I might only do short trips of 3 months each (4 times a year?) and keep my base here in Munich.

In the past I’ve worked as a Divemaster, Dive Instructor and Boatmaster around Southeast Asia. I’ve managed a dive shop in Indonesia and I’ve even enjoyed a very short career as an extra in a Bollywood movie called Pheer. In New Zealand I operated bulldozers, excavators and tractors way out in the bush and from time to time I managed to find some web design work.

There are a couple countries that really touched me deeply, namely Indonesia and Pakistan. Indonesia for its diversity. Every island has its unique culture and language and the people really make you feel welcome there. And Pakistan for the way it comletely took me by surprise. The country ‘enjoys’ a lot of media coverage and you can’t help but have a preconceived opinion before you come visit. Obviously, Pakistan has its fair share of problems, but, and that’s an important point, it has so much to offer in the way of culture, nature and hospitality that it should not be missed.

Well, that’s just a little bit about me. To find out more, please browse our archives and galleries and leave a comment.
Cheers!
