After 4 years I am finally back in Thailand. I am surprised at how much everything changed. And it didn’t really change for good. Shops everywhere, prices soaring and that chilled out feeling seems to have disappeared. One thing that has stayed the same are the sunsets, though…
yes, they built ko lanta up :( it’s so sad. Where are u for the holidays? I am off to celebrate in Haat Rin. When are you getting to Bangkok? Let’s meet up.
So, if the magic of Thailand has gone (along with the relaxed Visa rules a few years back), where would you recommend going next?
;-)
In that corner of the world, I’d go to Indonesia. Brilliant place it is, apart from maybe Bali (not all of it, though…). West Timor is awesome, Alor and Solor are unreal sometimes and the Bandas are just stunning. (visa rules in Thailand just got a bit worse. Apparently if you arrive overland you can only get 14 days on arrival.)
I agree with the beauty of Indonesia. If only their Visa Rules would be easier as well. At first I thought it would be okay, but having to visit immigration office about 20 times every 6 months, it becomes stressy. So after staying 2 years in the row in Bali, I really had enough of their bureaucracy. For now. Would be nice if they’d adopt the Visa regulations of the Philippines. ;-)
