Got sent the link to this video about the killings of whales and dolphins for meat in Taiji, Japan. Quite horrible video, so be warned.
Here you can sign the petition to make the japanese government act.

I was born in LA and was horrified by the video. When I went to visit relatives in Tokyo, I was eating the most wonderful dish, and later found out it was dolphin … not the fish, meat. It was wonderful. After this, I am sorry for the dolphins, but they taste so good. I like it now, and it makes me feel so good I will buy more to take home. There is no more fish, but dolphin makes good maki roll.

  • well, first of all, dolphins are not fish, they are sea mammals and obviously the video didn’t make a lasting impression on yourself. a shame really.

  • This video is biased obviously. It doesn’t give any insight on the Japanese fishermans’ point of view, therefore don’t make any assumptions. Americans aren’t so goody goody either. We inbreed chickens and turkeys and geneticaly altering them for more meat. Little do we know that many of the poultry we eat are retarded.

  • Dude, I didn’t say that how we (Europeans, Americans or whoever) treat our animals is correct, it sure isn’t. I just think there is no need to kill dolphins or whales like that, when there aren’t that many left. I’m a diver and I’d rather see them in the water than on a plate somewhere. Take the Maldives for example. There, shark finning has been banned now for years and they make bagfulls of money now from divers that come just for those sharks. There are other ways, you know…

  • sers! schützt die wale!

  • dolphins have feelings and emotions…that is different then killing a cow or chicken… like in the video its says dolphins will see there others traped and instead of swimming away to saftey the go and try to help then knowing they could get slaughterd. dolphins are smart animals. thats why its so bad. if you killed a chicken you think they woulkd gang up and try to help the others. hell na. think about it.

  • this is gay as hell im doing a project and im gonna make is good

  • I think that for the killing of dolphins they should be put to prison, and tear off their hands and pull out their tongues

  • The slaughter of dolphins is horrific and inhumane. These intelligent and emotional creatures are suffering extended and painful deaths- and these are probably the lucky ones. The few that get selected by theme ‘parks’ get to spend the rest of their lives in a small concrete tank for human entertainment.
The difference with farmed animals is that farmed animals have grown up in a domestic setting and generally get dispatched swiftly. There are some awful farms with bad living conditions, and this needs to be addressed as well.

  • The slaughter of dolphins is not very different from the slaughter or tuna fish or swordfish or cows or any other large lifeform for food consumption. It’s very subjective to say killing dolphins for food is bad but eating tunafish or beef is ok.
